I wanted to take the opportunity to talk more about Advanced Massage Techniques, charitable giving, and how both have affected my life and business over the past year.
Nearly a year ago my husband and I started a campaign at Advanced Massage Techniques. As of January 1st, 10% of all of our profits are donated to charity. We chose what we think are two outstanding charities: The Massage Therapy Foundation and Smile Train. The Massage Therapy Foundation helps the massage profession by funding research, awarding scholarships and grants to help bring massage therapy to under-served populations. They are a great asset to our profession! The Smile Train provides free surgery, care, and training for children born with a very common, inexpensive, and easily correctable birth defect: cleft lip and cleft palate. We know these would be two charities our customers would also proud to support.
November is also National Adoption Month! Last November my husband and I applied to a local adoption agency. It has been a lifelong dream of mine to adopt. After a year of what seemed like never-ending paperwork, we received “the call” last week. My husband and I were referred the file of a little girl born in China through their special needs program. Her special need? Cleft lip and palate! She was born January 6th, just a few days after we our campaign here at Advanced Massage Techniques. She is perfect (see photo below) and we all cannot wait to meet her. We know her surgery may at sometime be completed by Smile Train while we anxiously wait for travel approval. Even if she does not receive surgery in China, I know that many other children in her area have been given a lifelong gift by Smile Train. I cannot wait to go pick her up, give her a massage, and teach her about the importance of positive touch.
I hope you will take a look at our massage CEU courses and consider taking your massage ethics requirement or other cognitive courses, such as aromatherapy massage, from Advanced Massage Techniques. Remember, most states allow a certain number of hours online or as home study. We are new, small, but our feedback from our customers has been great! Sure, there have been a couple of small suggestions; we are not perfect. We love to hear back from our customers about how we can make our classes better. We know you enjoy seeing the impact your massage continuing education dollars will make on the lives of those in need.
Thanks you for your support!
