I have been busy, or at least what I consider busy. I think I will go ahead and share my secret now. I have an Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage Home Study CE course on the way! Soon. Very, very soon. I have worked on it for so long, trying to make it an engaging, dynamic document and course. I am very excited to share it. This project and a website redesign due out next month has put blogging on the back burner for the past few months. Each week I mean to post a blog, but I just have not found or made the time to do it.
On Friday, I was super thrilled to find a message from Meagan Holub in my inbox. She was gracious enough to send me a list of her current projects as well as her New Years resolutions. This list includes giving over $100,000 worth of massage gift certificates to Erase MS, shaving her legs, introducing Massage CE courses, finding time for a nap, and giving a massage if there is time.
If you follow Meagan on Facebook, you know it would be extremely difficult not to be impressed with the amount of work she does each day. No one, including Meagan, said making $100,000 a year is easy! She shows just how much hard work and dedication it takes. As I read through her short manifesto below, I was again impressed with her current and future projects. I found myself motivated to begin a few more creative projects of my own once these next few weeks pass.
Here she is, for your blogging pleasure…Meagan Holub.
It’s taken me three months to write this blog about my New Years resolution. That might give you an idea of how much I have on my plate this year. Heck, why have you guess what I’m up to… here’s a quick list:
Spring:
1. Navigate the Valentines Day Couples Massage rush for MASSAGE LA.
2. Develop, market and begin teaching couples massage classes on the weekends.
3. Iron out the horrible kinks in my online scheduling program and or the answering service which are making my life a costly hell and not assisting the clients one bit.
4. Custom Design gift certificates fit for the likes of Sir Paul McCartney for the MusiCares Grammy.org event and every other attending VIP. (Do this in the middle of the Valentines Day rush while also giving double time massage because a main female contractor went to visit family for the month of February. Arghh.)
5. Remind my team of Massage Therapists for a second time that January NOT February is when you want to take time off from begin a Massage Therapist.
6. Figure out how the GCs for the Grammy.org event turned so great that I was invited into Brad Pitt’s Make It Right event with only a few days notice to prepare. Rack brains for sponsors to assist in such a huge concept. Pray. A lot.
7. Go through mounds of paperwork to get all three books: The Magic Touch and More of the Magic Touch 1 and 2 stocked at Massage Warehouse (last minute and in the middle of all else, of course).
8. Hangout with the American Massage Conference in San Diego. Meet the “royalty” of the Massage World. The heads of Earthlite, Biotone, BioFreeze, CAMCT, and more. Drink and eat too much cheese in the process. Wish I could take a nap. Marvel at that fact that all these HUGE people in the massage world have heard of me. Seriously?
9. Google myself at the urging of the rep at GO Daddy… 724,000 results.. whoa! Okay, maybe a couple of people have heard of me. Marvel for 10 seconds then get back to work. Who has time to sit bug eyed with their mouth gaping open… not me.
10. Give over $100,000 worth of massage gift certificates to Erase MS after designing them. MASSAGE LA is, after all, still a new company. I know, I can’t believe it either.
11. Put together a press and three hour lecture for The AMTA conference in March. Travel there and stay overnight.
12. Put together a pile of courses based on The Magic Touch Education. Invite mentors across the U.S. to teach them. Ask them to all fly in to meet me in San Diego for the AMC. They agree without begging or bribing. I consider myself beyond lucky. I still have an unbelievable amount of work ahead of me. Like piles and piles of course material. And I HATE rehashing my own information. Its’ not my ability. My ability is generating new information. I am a visionary, entrepreneur and artist. I am the WORST at most things managerial and techie.
13. Try to market MASSAGE LA. Who has the time? Seriously. I need a plan B for this. Time to enter the major media and let it build from that, right? It’s worked before…
14. 1 hour webinar with Felicia Brown becomes 3 hours with Lori Crete. This requires five hours of free work. I’m not bitter. I don’t sleep the night before and wake up to discover there is no coffee in the house. I am a zombie. Now I’m bitter. The webinar breaks all records and I adore Lori and Felicia. I’m ecstatic. I should never have been bitter. I make my apologies.
15. I try to stay pretty because I need to fit some socializing in as the new girl in L.A. Nails, hair, leg shaving… I try but rarely succeed. Did I mention I need LONG nap?
16. Four days in San Diego in April for the AMC. I am in love with this group of Canadians. I feel I have become a bigot because I truly believe all Canadians are wonderful. I am ecstatic to be apart of this. I have to squeeze a great lecture into an hour and introduce The Magic Touch educators and have a list of courses ready to go for the event. I need to sleep for three days but it’s never gonna happen.
17. I give some massages. I struggle with the reality that I am quickly pricing myself out of normal luxury rates. No one can do everything forever. Not even me. Super massage woman.
18. I coach every morning. I can’t keep up with the demand. I love my clients who take action. They are the ones whose lives change. Some of them will be teaching the Magic Touch Education and it sometimes makes me teary eyed. I wish I could be the right coach (I’m really a consultant) for every client but I know I’m not and I’m okay with it. Sort of.
19. Get The Magic Touch Educational material copyrighted after noticing how many people take and make money off of my work, but do not ask first.
20. Remind my MASSAGE LA team that I’m still around, that I appreciate them and that I will, at some point, be able to market that business. After I take that nap I’ve been meaning to take for months now… or maybe a full day off… that would be good too…
21. Get the Magic Touch Educators to be able to provide NBCTMB courses under me. List classes all over the internet. Oh man, I forgot the website needs to be built out too. The classes and the last two books need to be added in. I think I’m a bit behind schedule.
22. Try to find time to date once in awhile before I become the crazy teacup doggie lady.
23. Design and order post cards and banners and presentations for three different events. After figuring out how to use my new MAC Keynote and Pages… I actually enjoy doing this. Again, I love to create… this can be considered design and creation so I find it easy breezy. I save money designing myself too. This tickles my frugal funny bone.
24. Catch up on all the blogs everyone expects me write for free. Note to self: no more free work. It’s just not sensible. I coach the opposite and yet I often let myself be suckered into it myself. From now on I pick and choose. No apologies.
25. Rack my brains for the remaining items on the list I’m forgetting. Marvel momentarily how some women do as much as I do and raise a family and stay fit. They are goddesses, not mere humans. Obviously. That’s just spring. This summer I have to get an agent in Hollywood and finish my memoir. Among many, many other things that I haven’t even realized yet. It will likely help that I am already surrounded by industry folks right out of the gate. I’m tripping all over everyone that everyone else wants to meet and I’m too busy to barely notice.
So what’s my New Year’s resolution? To find good interns. To delegate. To automate. To say “no” more often. By the end of this year I will have an assistant. MASSAGE LA will be largely running itself off the platform I have painstakingly built based on the highest standards. The Magic Touch Educators will be teaching across the nation. Sponsors will be assisting me in building my dreams and I will be lending my brand to assist in building theirs (I know who I’m holding out for). I will have an agent that send media opportunities my way so that marketing becomes a secondary need (no better marketing then media). I will have PEOPLE to market the memoir rather then little old me pulling the weight of all the responsibilities behind me. This year I will learn to pass the torch so that I may LIVE. This will allow me to be a better example by getting regular exercise, enough sun, eating right, dating and socializing and creating the art that brings me joy. Some of us have to learn the hard way to take care of ourselves first. To take weekends and evening off. This is my year to put that hard- learned lesson into action. This is my New Years resolution.
Happy New Year in mid- March, my friends.

Meagan,
Thank you for sharing this with us. The amount of work you are able to accomplish never ceases to amaze me. I wish you luck this year; I hope to hear updates. It also sounds like it may be time to dust off your copy of The 4 Hour Work Week and re-read the section about saying “no” and finding tips for hiring a virtual assistant. Right?
Everyone else,
Do you have the drive, dedication, and vision it takes to be a successful massage therapist? What is the biggest obstacle in you way? Did this blog help you dream up any big ideas or plans for your business? How are you coming with you new years projects, goals, and resolutions?
Have you read all of Meagan’s books? If not, you should. Last year I wrote a review of her first book and you can find all of her books on Amazon.
Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage. Interested? It is awesome. I need reviewers to confirm this and to make it even more awesome. Send me a message if you are interested and if would like to help me out during the review process.
