Everywhere you look right now, someone is selling a percussion massage gun. The choices available today are overwhelming. Do I buy the $400, $150, or the $35 dollar one? There are ones will three speeds and twenty attachments. Many look the same and it can be tricky for consumers to choose one that is right for them.
Which one do you really need? Which is best for you? Today, I am going to share one that may fit your health and budget needs.
Recover Fun sent me a new massage gun to try, their Recover Fun Plus massage gun. Recover fun massage gun had some different features that looked interesting, so I agreed to check it out and provide my honest review.
A reminder, this is the “Plus” version, which is an upgraded version of the Recoverfun percussion massage devices family,
The “Plus” has a longer stroke length, more power, a larger battery capacity, and a sturdier metal shell compared to the Recover fun T5. Are these upgrades worth it?
To do this, let’s look at the specs and what I like about this unit.
Size/Weight
This gun is average-sized compared to most massage guns. I have had handles that are too big and would definitely too big for many other female massage therapists or athletes with smaller hands. This one does have a silicone grip which is something I look for when choosing a massage gun that I will need to grip for a while. As mentioned, this unit’s shell is made of aluminum, which gives it a professional, sturdier feel when compared to a plastic shell.
This unit feels heavier than many of my other massage guns, but it is only two and a half pounds, which is comparable to most others.
Noise
Many companies have focused on reducing noise as the use of massage guns has exploded. Early massage guns were noisy!
This unit really shows how far they have come in this area. The Recover Fun massage gun has a brushless motor and is very quiet. It will not be a distraction in the gym, at home, in the clinic.
Speed
Some guns have three speeds, some new units have thirty speeds. This particular massage gun has five, which is more than enough for most people. While variable speeds are important, you do not need more than nine speeds on a massage gun.
Battery Life
Here is another significant improvement manufactures have made in the last year. This unit boasts that it can be used for 210 minutes.
Also, This is also my first unit with a removable battery. So, if you could certainly have backup batteries that are charged and ready to go, if needed. The user manual says it can take up to three hours to charge, so keep that in mind if you plan to use this unit for extended periods throughout your day.
Heads/Tip Attachments
This unit comes with the standard set of attachments (ball, flat, bullet, and fork). It also has some that are unique and will highlight first. I see a trend on Amazon where there are massage guns that come with nearly twenty attachments! Many are unnecessary and unusable. A few good standard attachments will go a long way and chances are, you will only use a few of them a majority of the time.

Recover Fun Plus Massage Gun and Self Care
In conclusion, I felt that this massage gun met my expectations and is priced fairly and competitively at $150 on Amazon. It isn’t perfect, but I have not found one that is yet. Certainly, it is better than most mid-range units available online. The 13mm percussive stroke length and creates a much deeper tissue percussion massage experience than the cheaper massage guns available.
For an extra $50, I would certainly choose the “Plus” version over the T5. The upgrades that make it a better unit are certainly worth it in my opinion.
As a reminder, percussion massage guns are not just for athletes, CrossFitters, physical therapists, chiropractors, or massage therapists.
A massage gun is a tool I would recommend most out of all of the massage tools available on the market. I honestly cannot imagine not having one anymore. They are an essential part of self-care, pain reduction, and injury recovery in our home.
Massage guns make great gifts for friends and family or self-care purchases. If you are looking for permission to buy one. You have mine. A massage gun is an essential item in my home and office. I think you will agree.

Hi. I have a NY massage license sine 1995. I am moving to South Carolina. Does South Carolina accept the NY state Exam or would I have to take the MBLEX? Thank you!

Not sure about SC. Some states accept the NYS, some do not. I would contact the SC board office for guidance and read through their application and rules.
